This weekend we have been shopping and cooking up the storm.
My daughter made an easy kid-proof fudge with condensed milk, walnuts, butter, and she microwaved it all. Turned out to die for – best ever fudge homemade. Here is the recipe.
On Sunday in the morning we made Aebelskivers for the first time with a new pan. We like them because they remind us of the dough balls we have been buying from Trader Joe’s this past few months. The recipe that I have found is very similar, and has an interesting ingredient of “buttermilk”, so most of Sunday morning was spent making buttermilk.
Once buttermilk was done, we ended with more than a cup of homemade butter which looked and tasted amazing.
We also made gumbo on Sunday in the evening using the recipe we have already tried before.
I have been using AllRecipes magazine and website a lot lately. I think it is becoming my go-to source for recipes lately. I think the recipes there are fairly simple for a home cook, and at the same time they yield amazing flavors, simplicity, and variety that a lot of other recipes are lacking.
