I have been attempting lately to check out some apps on my iphone for frugal people. I have found quite a few really good ones that I am using now.
Shopkick – you can earn kicks from just walking into stores, or by scanning products in stores. Have to say that sometimes it is hard to find some of the products in stores they are suggesting scanning, also not all stores are there listed. Maybe I don’t walk in the mall that much (I should one of these days), but I tend to rack most of my kicks for this app just by logging into it. So far I have just a bit over 200 kicks.
Checkout51 – I have been using it for about 1 month, and have accumulated $3.50 in rebates. When you buy groceries they are featuring, you have to upload your receipt, and they give you a rebate on top of any grocery store deals or discounts, or coupons you have already used.
Snap by Groupon – similar to checkout51. I have earned $1.25 here so far.
Receipt Pal – you have to take a photo of your receipt every time you shop, and you can get points for these, that can be converted into gift cards. I have been using it for about 1 month, and I have accumulated points worth about $3.
Receipt Hog – you have to take a photo of your receipt every time you shop, and you can get points for these, that can be converted into gift cards. I have been using it for about 1 month, and I have accumulated points worth about $2.50.
So, I have been using all these applications for about a month, and so far I could redeem only $10 total. This shows that all the work to obtain these points and rebates might not be worth that much, but as my time is not reimbursed in any other way these days, I find it almost like a game trying to get these points. Kind of a hobby, I guess. It is not going to make your rich, but there are a lot of sweepstakes you might win, and it is sort of like a scavenger hunt.
