This year I have been so blessed to go to the one and only Eco Wellness Influencer Conference – we went to New Orleans this year! It has been a short few weeks since, and I have decided to reflect a little on what we have learned and have done.
I have been to only one other conference before this one, and I have written about it before.
So, this was my second conference for blogging, and I had great expectations. Let me tell you, I have not been disappointed!
This conference is largely run on volunteer efforts. Based on the great enthusiasm that the staff has provided, as well as the work of the volunteers, the conference was a great success and amazing experience. Lots of great people we have met, got to know, and lots of new information that we have learned there!
Here are my reasons to check ShiftCon out next year:
- You will have an amazing trip to a new area for you, will get to meet like-minded people, and share an unforgettable experience of learning, sharing, and reflecting on what is happening in the world, and how you can lead the change
- You will get to meet brands, try and test out their products, discuss the newest and coolest trends in the wellness field
- You will make connections with fellow influencers that will probably last a lifetime!
- You will get to learn about the technology of change that will equip you with the tools that you need to be able to continue providing fresh and relevant content to your audience
I have talked and read a while ago about the importance of going to conferences, and how much you get to learn in a fast-paced environment with people who are engaged and understand your difficulties, and are there to help you.
There are so many bloggers out there who don’t always know how to present their knowledge properly, how to engage their audience to create an unforgettable experience for the readers. It is also easy to get caught up in the idea that, as a blogger, you are alone with your screen, typing away, and you don’t always have that immediate connection with the person on the other side of the wire reading your stories. Going to a conference can help out understand exactly what other influencers go through, and how they deal with bullying, growth hacking, getting noticed in the blogosphere and the Internets.
Another problem that is old as the Internet world itself is meeting with the brands that represent the products that you love, but haven’t had a chance to contact. Nothing can substitute the personal connection and contact that you can make at a conference. I have had a chance to meet with lots of fabulous brands, try out amazing goodies, and am hoping to establish a relationship showcasing the new products, describing them to my readers to educate and get my readers to try them out just like I did. Sometimes you get hooked on a product, and don’t have the insight to try something similar but new – I got to try so many great new for me laundry products, treats, snacks and beauty products during the conference and the days after going through my goodie bags, I cannot believe that I have never known about these brands before, but now I am excited to go and find them on the shelves of my local stores and indulge!
I loved our New Orleans trip experience. We have had a true foodie adventure this time around, and got to eat amazing food on the trip. This trip would not have been possible but for the ShiftCon conference – and I am so thankful for an invitation that I have received earlier this year to attend this conference, and feel the city of New Orleans, and experience the change that the conference brought to us all with the new powerful knowledge and understanding.
This year’s ShiftCon had a great program that was tailored for bloggers to teach us to blog better, as well as influencers to understand the issues the world is facing. Experts were sharing their advice and knowledge on how to improve your readership, improve on video making techniques, navigate publishing, improve website SEO and improve Instagram footprint. At the same time, we got to learn more about what we eat, how important is organic agriculture, and how we can help safeguard our oceans and world from continuous pollution and environmental impact. I am very thankful for the new information I have learned throughout the conference that I will not be writing about to help my audience make sense of the world around them, make environmentally friendly shortcuts, and improve the lifestyle without compromises to nature around us. I will also try to be a better blogger through new ideas and tools that I am now aware of, and can use to expand my readership and content effectiveness.
I would like to thank Leah Segedie and her team for organizing this ShiftCon conference, and I am hoping to be able to come again the next time around!
