My kids are not in school for the new year yet. Next week we have lots of preparations to do, and they are starting back a week after next week. Right now my biggest challenge for the new year is coming up with new ideas for their lunches. We got to try new for us LALA Yogurt Smoothies that are a great addition to your meals on the go, and that helped me create great new options for our lunches!
Today I have created a few options using the same types of ingredients. I find that the same routine of what to eat can get quite tiresome pretty quickly. So, having the same type of food every day might be that one last straw for the kids to handle. So, I have decided to make 4 boxes with exact same ingredients for lunch today, but cut the food, and place it a bit differently. So, this is one way that you can vary your lunch options – in one prep session you can simply cut your veggies in a different way, or combine them in different types of snacks. For example, one day you can give some ham and cheese separately, and on another day you can try ham and cheese roll-ups, or even create your own ham and cheese sushi rolls – bet your kids will be amazed with your creativity!
So, one way to save time on lunch prep for the week is to have a variety of different combinations available, while the ingredients can still be the same so your lunch box prep does not become some sort of 2 hour ordeal.
Another great idea for lunch boxes on the go is to have a set of nutritious drinks available! While my kids love yogurt in a cup, I think having a little bottles of LALA Yogurt Smoothies is even better – definitely less boring for the kids!

Yogurt smoothie with mixed berries – made with real fruit and contains 5 g of protein
Curb yogurt smoothie that fights hunger with 10 g of protein, 8 g of whole grains
Pina Colada yogurt smoothie with 5 g of protein.

The kids chose their favorites and drank those at the end.
